Rebar Spacers

Plastic rebar spacers designed and manufactured by Plastic Technologies Ltd. are intended to secure reinforcing steel bars or steel mesh (also bars made of glass, carbon or basalt fiber) inside of concrete construction in order to provide the predicted concrete cover, it is equal to the distance between the reinforcing bar and the external surface of concrete structures. Those products fix the correct position of reinforcing bars or mesh frames in the body of concrete structure. Also products could be used to determine а gap between the reinforcement mesh layers. After concrete curing is completely finished, the rebar spacers do not perform any function, they do not affect the strength of the concrete structure and do not require removal.

Main features§

For each size (the size equal to concrete cover) rebar spacers are made of three types of support on the base:
"Chair" for installation on a hard base as formwork with small support area;
"Standard", for installation on compacted crushed stone or gravel surface with a standard support area;
"XL, sand base" for installation on compacted sand surface with increased support area.

Additional options for spacers application§

It is possible to use spacers without significantly reducing the load capacity as follows:

TWIN:§

Equal size (height) spacers clamps are connected using special connectors in pairs for use in order to define and keep a gap between the rebar mesh layers.

STACK:§

Equal size (height) spacers are stacked one on the other to reach bigger height (increase concrete cover) or use spacer to hold second layer of rebar mesh structure.

Advantages of using PTL rebar spacers§

  • made of primary raw materials and can withstand high loads (including work process at low temperatures), which saves on required consumption of products on each m2;
  • have an bright or alarm coloring (orange, red, blue, green, yellow, gray, white, black and others on request) to simplify the control of installation works;
  • special snap petals allow the product to be fixed on the bars in a wide range of diameters from 3 to 18 mm. To facilitate the spacers installation, it is possible to snap spacers on the reinforcing bar (reinforcing mesh) in a comfortable position for the worker before it is installed on the ground;
  • can be installed on horizontal reinforcement bars, as well as on vertical or obliquely positioned bars with latching on the crosshairs to avoid their rotation and falling out at the time of installation and concrete mixture filling. PTL spacers can be used instead of "star-type" spacers;
  • The special PTL design allows the spacers to be mounted in a stack to increase the concrete cover or use for multi-layer rebar constructions;
  • The PTL spacers can be combined in twin with the use of connectors to form a gap between the rebar layers (multi-level rebar frame);
